Armadillo

The 'Armadillo' vacant property alarm is a wireless battery powered system designed to be installed inside and outside buildings where normal alarm systems, which require mains power and phone lines, will not work.

The system operates by using a mixture of RF (radio frequency) and GSM (mobile telecommunication networks). In simple terms the systems components talk to each other using RF while the alarm notifications are sent out using the same GSM network as a mobile phone.
