What does this course include?

This award is designed for those who wish to start work as a vehicle immobiliser . The award consists of 2 examinations covering basic knowledge and responsibilities of the occupation. This nationally recognised qualification is the industry standard and will enable a vehicle immobiliser to apply to The Security Industry Authority (SIA) for a license to work as a vehicle immobiliser. It is illegal to work in this country as a vehicle immobiliser without an SIA license. You or the company you work for can be fined up to £5000 and you can receive up to a 6 month prison sentence.

What do I need to get on the course?

The Security Industry (SIA) issues licence's to vehicle immobilisers who meet their criteria. To qualify for an SIA Licence you will need to satisfy three requirements.

Pass an Identity check

Pass a criminal record check.

Possess a recognised vehicle immobilsation qualification. 

How will I be assessed?

The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award in Vehicle Immobilsation is such a recognised qualification and consists of two units:

Unit 1

Roles & Responsibilities of a vehicle Immobiliser, including how to comply with the law, signs, lines and enforcement vehicles, vehicle registration marks, health and safety, when to clamp and when to remove the vehicles, vehicle tow away, use of photography, payment process, radio operations, the appeals procedure, discretionary parking and standards of behavior.

Unit 2

Conflict management and communication for vehicle immobilisers takes candidates through managing conflict by applying dynamic risk assessment approaches, understanding the importance of self awareness and acting proactively; how to defuse and resolve conflict and post incident considerations and learning from conflict.
